The Candle Maker
Part Three
"Luna!"
Ezzy wrapped her friend in a welcoming hug. Luna discreetly coughed. The air was strong with incense, and she was pretty sure patchouli was in the mix. Living her life around essential oils and aromas made her senses able to withstand many intense scents, but patchouli was her nemesis. She thought it smelled like unwashed dirt.
"Hey, girl! Getting ready to set up shop?"
"Maybe, maybe not," Ezzy drifted. She started slow dancing with her feather duster. Luna smiled and shook her head. Ezzy was the ideal character to own a mystical shop. She had always been a bit loopy. When Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix came out to theaters, Ezzy was enamored by Luna Lovegood. She would whimper that her name wasn't Luna. "It's not fair. You should have been Ezzy." She pouted like a 6-year-old although she was actually 26 when the movie came out. One thing was for sure. Luna Lovegood and Esmeralda Rogers (yes, she despised her mundane last name) had many things in common.
"Well, you know I'll be opening up right on time."
"Oh! Yes, I nearly forgot. Today's the big day!" Ezzy dropped the duster and started dancing a waltz with Luna. "You are now the queen—the Queen of the Candles. No, Duchess Candle. No. Hmm… I need to think about this."
Luna laughed. "How about keeping it simple for a change? I like The Candlemaker."
Ezzy stopped and stared deeply into her friend's eyes. "You know what? I think that suits you. Though I would prefer Mistress Candle of the Highest Order."
They giggled like schoolgirls. After a few moments, Luna expressed her thoughts.
"So, I would really love to figure out a way we can collaborate. We've talked about it so many times; it makes sense to go for it. I was thinking of something wicked cool like a Candle Making Class with themes like Witches Brew or Ghostly Ghouls."
"That sounds like fun, but why does it have to be fake? How about something spectacular like blessed candles for luck or even love? Both tourists and locals would get a kick out of it. And we could even change someone's path, someone's destiny!" She squealed and jumped up and down, eyes sparkling in excitement. "How can we connect candle making, the Craft, and finding one's soulmate?"
Luna stepped back a couple of steps. She was not into magic in the same way Ezzy was and it scared her some.
"I don't know, Ezzy. That sounds a little intense."
Ezzy's sparkle diminished slightly but recovered quickly. "No worries, girly. Let's start slow. How about your first idea? Halloween is only a few weeks away, so it sounds like perfect timing."
Luna smiled warmly, "Exactly what I was thinking! See, there's your destiny. It's fate that we have enough time to plan this out properly."
Ezzy grinned, but something sneaky was brewing. "Yes, it does feel like fate."
